The reference photo for this painting was taken during my 6th hike up Katahdin in October 2020. It was one of the last weekends before the first real snowfall up there. We'd traversed up Hunt Trail in decent weather, but by the time we made it across the seemingly never-ending tablelands to Baxter Peak, a mix of freezing rain and snow began coming down. We did get a quick view of chimney pond before the clouds totally enclosed us. Safe to say we only spent a few minutes at the summit before beginning the long, cold trek down Abol.
Oil and acrylic paint on 18x24" canvas. Custom pine frame with hanging hardware included. Finished with non-yellowing archival varnish.
